In a wood frame; 11.5" x 14" overall. The Monterey Custom House was built in 1827 by the Mexican Government when California belonged to Mexico. Peters was born in San Francisco and painted in a Tonalist style. He was active in the San Francisco Art Association and the Bohemian Club. Peters helped found the Del Monte Art Gallery in Monterey.
